Chemical Peels/Medi Spa
If you are suffering from any one of the following conditions (Sun-damaged, blemished, wrinkled, unevenly pigmented facial skin, dry skin, acne skin, environmentally damaged skin) we may be able to restore a healthier skin condition. Performed by our aesthetician and in some more severe cases by Dr Scaccia they use chemical solutions to peel away the top layers of your skin.
MMChemical peels perform best on fair, thin skin with superficial wrinkles. In our Medi Spa our aesthetician performs chemical peels using a chemical solution to smooth and improve the texture of your facial skin by removing damaged outer layers. You are a good candidate if you’ve sustain any facial blemishes, uneven skin pigmentation or wrinkles.
MMSkin composed of epidermis and dermis. Dermis has two layers, both are assembled with long fibers and collagen, that become loose and elongated from overexposure to the sun and aging. If the deepest reticular layer is affected, scars result.
MMGlycolic acid and alphahydroxy acids peels are the mildest. (TCA) trichloroacetic acid, can be used in varying strengths for longer lasting smoothness. The exact formula applied should be adjusted to each patient's requirement.
MMPhenol the most potent and effective peel we have available is capable of potentially eradicating all the flaws and the deepest wrinkles of the face.
MMChemical peels can be performed in conjunction with a facelift but it is not a subsittute for surgery nor will it prevent the aging process.
MMAs the chemical penetrates into the dermis, first layer of your skin, our aesthetician preforming chemical peel may also remove pre-cancerous skin growths. A chemical peel softens facial acne scars and we can control acne outbreak. In some cases, health insurance may cover the chemical peel procedure. Check your insurance policy and contact your provider prior to your consultation.
MMGlycolic peels, fruit acids, and lactic are Alphahydroxy acids (AHA), they are the lightest of the peel formulas and often referred to as “Lunch time peels”
MMThey provide a smooth, bright looking skin for people who do not have enough free time to recoup from a phenol or TCA peel. AHA peels treat fine wrinkling, acne, facial dryness, and irregular ragged pigmentation.
MMVarious amounts of the AHA components, with weekly to monthly treatments may result in a more pleasing outcome. At Riverside Plastic Surgery Center, we utilize Medic La Roche-Posay Laboratoire BioMedic Pharmaceutique for in-house treatments and homecare line. Dr Scaccia or his aesthetician will assist you in making important decisions. Daily skin-care includes a mixture cream of an alphahydroxy acid, with a facial wash or cream as part of systematic rehabilitation treatments to improve your skin's texture.
MM(TCA) in many concentrations can be used, but most commonly used for medium-depth peeling. Facial irregularities such as wrinkles, shallow blemishes and pigmentation are more frequently treated with TCA. TCA peels results are usually not as striking in appearance or have the lasting results of a phenol peel. More than one TCA peel may be needed to accomplish your desired effect and recovery has a shorter time frame.
MMPhenol the strongest chemical solution that allows for a deep peel. Good candidates are patients with skin conditions of coarse facial wrinkles, blotchyness or sun exposed damaged skin, and or pre-cancerous growths. Phenol tends to lightens the skin, Dr Scaccia and his aesthetician will evaluate your skin pigmentation to determine if phenol is a recommended treatment for you. Primarily used on the face; scarring may result in other body areas.
MMImmediately after surgery our asethetician or Dr Scaccia may apply a dressing to your skin. Swelling and crusting of the skin are normal, and ointments to keep the skin supple will be applied for seven to ten days following the peel. The redness of the skin that persists after the initial healing phase, fades with time. Dr Saccia often recommends a soft diet, avoidance of extremes in temperature and any activity that would cause stress to healing skin. It is imperative that you follow our postoperative facial skin care and cosmetic tips instructions to the letter. (Procedure page, see J,click link and printout)
MMIn one to two weeks after surgery, new skin will emerge that is pinkish, finer, and free of many wrinkles. But it may take weeks for all redness to vanish. Follow-up care involves using sunblocks in order to protect the skin, while new pigment is created. Patients will notice that the skin remains lighter for a long time after surgery, but that condition will usually subside when the skin’s pigment level has been restored.
MMChemical peels make it possible to correct many facial flaws and signs of premature aging that undermine self-confidence. By changing how you look , chemical peels can help you change how you feel about yourself.
MMAll chemical peels carry some uncertainty and risk. Chemical peel is normally a safe procedure when it is performed by a qualified, experienced plastic surgeon. However, some unpredictability and risks such as infection and scarring, while infrequent, are possible.
